Oreo Siblings

Image
Oreo Siblings      Oreo Pakistan released its 3 rd TV Commercial few days back. It’s called OREO Siblings . Comparing the last two TVCs, that catered the relationship of father and son/daughter, this TVC was a pain. The Grandmother like sister and a little brother, who does not know what is being done to him, creates a scene that might be common in households however, it is so simple to be brought up in a Million Rupee TVC. The Commercial which was edited overnight, is almost perfect in terms of production and post-production, but it has a continuity error. The girl is holding the Oreo in left hand and seconds later she is holding it in the right hand.   Creative Agency, Circuit Draft FCB , that launched OREO in Pakistan and currently handles the account too, has devotedly worked on Oreo. All ads, they had produced, were based on the international standards set by Mondelēz International. The latest ad is a copy of the commercial of same brand, ...

Banned Commercials- The New Attraction

Image
This article will analyze two Pakistani commercials that were created by renowned creative agencies for local clients, but the commercials were banned by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) for inappropriate content. In this world where women objectification is charismatic, at the same place patriarchial society doesn't allow any attack on the male figure. ZONG- 4G First Commercial that I will talk about it is of Zong's 4G Services. The TVC was launched in the first quarter on 2017, and was soon hit by PEMRA. Zong's TVC showed a group of boys and girls playing cricket together and in the next scene, a ball is seen hitting a guy between his legs   (Source Techjuice.pk). IGLOO- Moments Bar Second TVC was created by IGLOO , and featured its vanilla ice-cream, with a layer of chocolate. The expressions of the model and the way the product has been shown is inappropriate and seductive, as in a very subtle way it depicts immodest gestures. ...

Zong- Dead, Reborn or Lost

Image
With a 20% market share in telecom sector and over 3 million 4G subscribers, Zong takes to the skies. Amber Arshad writes in Aurora that even though Zong has re-branded it self, its still a question whether it will be able to conquer new heights or it will drown. Adil Mirza - COO of D’Hamidi Partnership, Zong's creative agency died recently because of brain hemorrhage. Obviously, handling such an active account is not a simple task. People are also thinking now, if Zong is going to change its agency or not. Zong's current brand identity has fuchsia and lime green colors, while the key message is 'A New Dream'. At one place where we don't doubt the invincible services of Zong, at the same time we get confused of their target group. Umar Tanvir , Marketing Manager, Zong tried to make it clear by stating, "...the brand image needed to move from an ‘awami ’ brand to a premium one. Our target market shift...

Kingdom, where Tarang Rules

Image
Tarang Vs. CupShup Eid is over, and now we are expecting a tough war between Tarang and CupShup. CupShup and Tarang belong to the category of Liquid Tea Whiteners, and they both target the middle-class and low middle-class customers. The latest entrant, Dalda’s CupShup, doesn’t know that it has entered the Kingdom where, Tarang is the Ruler. Over the period of years, Tarang has positioned itself as a cheap alternative of milk in tea. The bright colors, endorsement of unattractive film actors, bracing music, traditional dance and everything, that can attract the uncultured community of Pakistan, comes to our mind when we hear the word Tarang. On the other hand, CupShup targeted the customers who are family oriented, struggling for a better standard of living and are more learned and aware. Tarang is targeting the community that we want to get rid of however; CupShup is targeting the families who are struggling for a better life. Moreover, Tarang...

5 things I learnt while working on Dolphin Show.

5 things I learnt while working on Dolphin Show 1. When there are a lot of things to do, adopt 24 hours rule: Dolphin Show is a mega event where we were welcoming 9000 people every day. Tasks were becoming errands and the team was facing difficulties. At that time I felt it was better to do things 24 hours in advance. For instance, instead of calling schools that were coming next week, it was easier to call schools that were coming the next day. We do the tasks for the next day more efficiently and with focus because we know if do not do it then we will be in trouble. 2. Instead of blaming others, observe the areas where you are lacking: Managing events is tough but it is tougher when you are not going home or when you are not resting. In such situations there are more chances of doing mistakes. I observed that in such conditions if team members start blaming others then situations can get worse because when member A blames member B, in return member B will also bla...

Newspaper advertisements are reality...

Image
In June an Account Manager at the company where I am doing an internship asked me the sizes of Newspaper ads. I didn’t tell him the sizes… Why?  Because I did not know that newspaper ads have any  fixed size . I used to believe that the size of ad is according to the wish of the client/company but I was wrong, there are fixed sizes set by the Newspaper Publishing Companies. An Account Manger is an  Advertising Agency  is not the person who works in finance, it’s the person who manages different accounts. Accounts here mean Clients. So an account manager is a person who manages different clients. In Pakistan all the leading newspapers,  Jang ,  The News ,  DAWN ,  Express  etc have 8 columns in there newspaper. And the height of the page is 57 cm approx.                                            An ad that c...
